A photograph as art is born from the interplay of three crucial elements.
The camera lens, the photographer, and the subject intertwine to create a moment, a message, an impact. It’s that juxtaposition of tools, technique, and inspiration that the photographer finesses, they are the vital components that he mastered, to be coaxed, to create a moving visual message.
Identifying the photo within a photograph is the essence of what I seek as a photographer. It’s the place where the visual message is pared down to the essential, the pure, and can often border on the abstract. The term, “poetry in light” seems an apt description of the objective.
Understanding that each person brings their own experience to the interpretation of an image, it is my hope that the work speaks to them on some level.
